As we’re going to be talking a lot of different eCommerce related things here at Launch Commerce, it makes sense to have a business like Cabo Lago as a reference to use as an example for many of the things we suggest and recommend. One thing I like to do is be completely transparent with things like this, so while we’re here to talk about eCommerce from top to bottom, we’re also starting an eCommerce business from scratch – literally – that will cover all aspects of what we’ll be discussing here. Cabo Lago is the name of our new inflatable stand-up paddle board company, which combines something my wife and I really enjoy with an industry and product that I think we can improve upon.
I met a factory earlier this year while attending Canton Fair in Guangzhou, China, that makes high quality inflatable stand-up paddle boards, and they were interested in working with me to allow us to make our own brand, using our own designs and special features that I would like to make, at a price that I think will allow this business to generate a decent margin while investing enough into marketing to become a sustainable business.
These are the earliest of days as any entrepreneur knows, that are full of excitement and anticipation of what is to come. And our experiment, if you want to call it that, is going to attempt to build this business without really investing much money in it. If you want to follow along with our progress, you should become a member so that you can be a part of the journey to come.
I look forward to sharing all of my experiences from nearly 20 years in the eCommerce world with you, and applying those to the 200+ ideas for articles that I’ve already started compiling. Most of those will be reserved exclusively for paid members to Launch Commerce, but more details to come on that and for now, we’re running a special where you can take advantage of some introductory rates and specials.
For Cabo Lago, the site was built by me on one of the best and easiest to use eCommerce platforms, Shopify. (Learn more about Shopify here). As you may know, you can have a site set up and operational in Shopify, ready to take orders, literally in a matter of minutes. But to make it look nice, set up products and other features, it takes a little while longer. I spent about a week to get Cabo Lago looking the way that it does right now.
More to come, including how we’re hoping to get our first product launched, is coming in another article very soon.
Have a great day, and we’ll talk soon!
